3 Levels of Hydration

The complete RE/START Hydration range  identifies 3 levels of hydration needs; essential, moderate and ultimate. This system will help you diagnose what  hydration needs are according to the hair type;  frizz prone, naturally dry hair or chemically-dehydrated hair. Alongside genetic factors, these hair hydration levels are likely to be impacted by your daily routine, environmental factors, and chemical processing. The RE/START™ professional range has skincare ingredients that have been proven to be effective by hair experts. The guide below will help you identify the level of hydration, the causes of it, and other needs so you can discover the perfect personalized routine to match your clients’ hair.

1. FRIZZ-PRONE HAIR

Frizz-prone hair can be identified by flyways, low porosity (especially at the tips), and dullness. Exposure to dry environments, heating tools, free radicals such as pollution, chlorine, and sea salt are the main factors that cause frizz-prone hair to become dehydrated. This hair type will benefit from a daily routine that will moisturize, smooth the fiber, and tame frizz. The level of hydration recommended by RE/START would be the essential daily hydration maintenance range. Following this personalized routine will help you keep the hair’s essential hydration level and protect it from losing natural hydration due to daily exposure to environmental aggressors.

2. NATURALLY DRY HAIR

Dehydration is a big no no for naturally dry hair, which can become dehydrated due to genetic reasons combined with exposure to external factors. This hair type can usually be identified by medium to high-porosity hair which feels rough to the touch, and which can be dull and unmanageable. A routine that targets all these issues before the hair becomes fragile and splits is ideal! A moderate level of hydration from the RE/START range is recommended to improve scalp hydration after every wash. Extra hydration is essential to keep the hair’s natural porosity smoothed and sealed in essential moisture.

3. CHEMICALLY-DEHYDRATED HAIR

Hair that’s been exposed to chemical processing such as coloring and bleaching, (which increase hair porosity) is classed as chemically-dehydrated, this can lead hair losing its internal hydration and protective layer against dehydration. These issues may sound scary, but you can continue to have beautifully colored hair with products from Revlonissimo Color Journey™, the professional hair color that is formulated as if it contained a hair mask to deliver unlimited color possibilities with ultimate hair care and shine. Combined with the help of the ultimate range this intense wash and daily routine can help restore hair porosity at mid lengths and ends while offering intensive hydration, which will help improve manageability and shine by sealing the hair fiber.
